Spain is an ideal country for travellers that are hungry for unfiltered, out of the ordinary experiences that they’ll remember for the rest of their lives. The cultural diversity of its autonomous communities seduce travellers who desire to explore the rural heart of the region and to enjoy the world famous cuisine. Today we’ve put our sights on the Comunidad Foral de Navarra to discover three amazing places that you must not miss during your vacation.
Do you want to live experiences that combine good food and drinks, natural vistas, and traditional celebrations? If so, the Navarra is the place. In its nooks and crannies, towns and natural parks you’ll find all that you need to relax and enjoy alongside your friends, family or whomever you want. Don’t forget to take a trip through its castles and medieval fortresses where you’ll be able to uncover the history of the region that has marked the life and character of its inhabitants.
1) Pamplona: The most populated city of this community is located at the northern end of the Iberian Peninsula and has much to offer. For starters you can delight your palate with its incomparable cuisine (Of which we highlight their delicious cheese, wines and sausages), followed by visiting the city hall, as well as taking a look at the Museo de Navarra, a trip through the colourful Plaza del Castillo and having a nice coffee in the beautiful Parque de la Taconera. If you wish to travel to Pamplona during the month of July, we recommend taking a look at the Fiestas de San Fermín, also known as “Sanfermines”, a characteristic event of international tourist attraction. In Pamplona there are two motorhome and campervan areas you can stay in: Trinitarios and Berriozar.2) Foz de Lumbier: If what grabs you is extreme adventure and open-air sports, you must make your way to the Foz de Lumbier canyon. This protected natural park is located right next to the town of Lumbier (which you can also visit), at only 35 kilometres from Pamplona. It is a unique place, in between immense sheer limestone cliffs, where you can see several species of native flora and fauna. This site has several trekking paths for travellers to visit safely. If you feel strongly about nature photography, bookmark this article! In Lumbier you can choose between the motorhome area of Lumbier or the Iturbero Camping, both well placed in the town itself.3) The Witch Caves of Zugarramurdi: Close to the frontier with France, and by the side of the town of the same name, you can find the Caves of Zugarramurdi. A town that has a very interesting history that we invite you to learn about, and to also visit the Witch Museum of Zugarramurdi. The caves have a properly designated path and have been properly illuminated so that you can explore without any worry. To park in your motorhome in Zugarramurdi, the town’s parking lot is a good option (No water services). Now then, if what you’re looking for is to get to know places outside of well-trodden routes aboard motorhomes or campervans try out these two stopovers included in the España Discovery guide: Bodegas Nekeas, located 20 minutes away from downtown Pamplona. Or Aceite Artajo, located at the southern end of Navarra, in Fontellas, Tudela, almost by the frontier with Aragon. Remember that España Discovery is about discovery Spain “from the inside”, with all of the traditional cuisine, wines, vistas, culture, tradition, and always respectful of the environment. All the hosts have something to offer, and we should always say thank you by purchasing some of their products.
