The Cooperativa Vinícola de Nulles is an agricultural cooperative founded at the beginning of the 20th century in the village of Nulles, in the Alt Camp region (Tarragona). The wine cooperative was founded with the aim of defending the interests of the area's winegrowers and promoting the production and marketing of high quality wines. It currently has more than 70 members and produces a wide variety of wines, including whites, reds and sparkling wines.
The architect
The cooperative has an emblematic building designed by the architect Cèsar Martinell. The building was constructed between 1919 and 1920 and is considered one of the best examples of the Spanish modernist style, "the most characteristic element is the parabolic arch that provides a spacious and functional space but also of great aesthetic beauty". Martinell seeks balance; in his words "balanced forms are those that exhibit beauty in themselves".
