The Bosquet family has had an important wine making history that started in the surroundings of the Sierra Nevada and Sierra Gador, around 3 generations ago. From 1960 onward, the finca had very old buildings, such as a shepherd’s hut, where today stands the winery, fermentation hall and laboratory, as well as two reservoirs, used back then to remove minerals such as lead from the water. In the 80’s, the Bosquet family manages to form an agreement with the local miners to end the local mining work. Nowadays, one of these reservoirs has become a barrel aging room and the other one has become storage for bottled wines.
Gabriel Bosquet, current owner of the “Cepa Bosquet” cellar, included in the 2023 España Discovery guide, strongly believes in caring for the environment as a way to ethically enjoy the fruit of their work, that’s why the elaboration process of their wines starts with a harvest by hand, where the workers pick the grape at its most ripe. Then fermentation follows at the optimum temperature, choosing the barrels, and selecting the toasting. The entire process leads to a cataogue of exclusive wines, red, white and even foamy. Would you like to taste a Chardonnay Barrica, or a young “La Reina”, aged for 18 months in a barrel made of French and American oak.The products of the “Cepa Bosquet” cellar have received many national recognitions, such as the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Laujar-Alpujarra, “Calidad Certificada” (Certified Quality) by the Junta de Andalucia, and “Categoría Oro” (Gold Category) quality stamp by the Gourmet Sabores Almería brand. They have also been awarded at an international level in competitions such as the Brussels World Contest, Catavinum World Wine & Spirit Competition, International Wine Guide Awards, and more.
