Antigua Estación de Benifallet: Get to know the hosts of España Discovery

Can you imagine living a unique experience alongside nature Valley of Zafán? Near the town of Benifallet, by the Ebro river, Catalunya, you can find the Antigua Estación de Benifallet, a beautiful place that up until a few decades ago was a train station, and nowadays serves hundreds of travellers from all over the world who wish to rest peacefully, taste some of the best local cuisine, visit the Parque Natural de Els Ports, the Via Verde (Rail Trail) and learning about this stopover’s history.

The Antigua Estacion de Benifallet -a Stopover included in the motorhome tourism specialist guide, España Discovery 2023-, is only 6 kilometres away from the town of the same name and it is widely recommended to everyone who wishes to disconnect from their workplace, leave noisy cities behind, and enjoying the beauty of nature. This old train station, situated in the middle of the Via Verde (a rail trail 170 kilometres long that starts in the hills of Aragon and ends close to the sea in Delta del Ebro), today functions as a pension, hostel and restaurant, offering visitors a privileged stay, far from mass tourism and ideal to stay alongside friends, family or your partner.

If you love Mediterranean food, do not forget to taste the local cuisine and PDO Terra Alta wine you can find in the stopover’s restaurant. The menu includes fabulous dishes based on roasted meat, fish, seafood or pasta, alongside varied tapas and desserts. If you have allergies or intolerances to any food type, please communicate with your hosts for alternatives.

In Antigua Estación de Benifallet you can enjoy one or more nights in the buildings that rail workers used to stay in, and that have been refurbished into a pension and a hostel, both with comfortable and quiet rooms in the very heart of the forest. Surely, the sound of birds and other local animals will be charming, do not forget to hike through the available trekking paths to get to know the local fauna and flora, and go to Cuevas Maravillas, the Iglesia Parroquial and the Ermita de la Mare de Déu de Dalt
