Why do the hosts of España Discovery allow you to park in their property for up to 24 hours for free?

We know that there are travellers from all over Europe and other parts of the world that are looking for experiences out of the ordinary, far from conventional noisy campsites, preferably natural places and enjoy interacting with warm and authentic hosts that will show every single detail of their rural projects. 

Spain is a land of surprises, stories and artisan products and the best of that is that we can visit interesting stopovers and park our motorhomes or campervans to rest in them and live these experiences.

One of the reasons they do not charge for parking is that these private properties are not camping sites nor motorhome areas, hosts have no obligation to provide either a water change station or any facilities beyond a flat and level parking site.

Hosts are mostly agricultural producers, who are passionate about showing their products to the public, so the more visitors they get, the better chance they’ll get to sell their product and for their name to spread. Word of mouth is one of the cornerstones of this joint venture. España Discovery allows hosts to let their products and businesses to be known for free, and in exchange hosts do not charge guide-bearers for parking for up to 24 hours.

In other words, visitors have no obligation to buy anything, but they are aware that every host has something to offer, and the visitors will -according to their means- purchase a product (or a few) to express their gratitude for being hosted.

Even if you do not buy anything, your positive experience will contribute and attract potential clients to each stopover. The only thing that hosts may charge you for (and they may not, but don’t forget to ask) is power, if it is offered by the stopover. Each host will be happy to meet you and, if they have the time for it, will have prepared a day of activities and guided tours for you and your fellow travellers. Don’t wait, prepare your vehicles and depart to the rural heart of Spain as soon as possible!

Remember that you can park for up to 24 hours in the facilities of the stopovers spread all over Spain. Besides, using the QR code of the stopover you choose (which appears printed in your up-to-date España Discovery Guide) you can access the location of it and contact its hosts directly to announce your arrival. Always remember to show your copy of your up-to-date España Discovery Guide to your host, as it is your ID and passport for this system, and always remember to follow the GOLDEN RULES.
